Yana Todorova participated in the international scientific conference hosted by Burgas Free University on June 20-21, 2024. She presented her research paper, titled “Interaction between Modern Manifestations of Artificial Intelligence and Intellectual Property Law.”
During her presentation, Yana emphasised that artificial intelligence (AI) is set to become the most significant phenomenon of the century, playing an increasingly central role in technological advancements and everyday activities.
The development and implementation of AI are closely tied to the utilisation and evolution of intellectual work, including copyrighted materials, scientific discoveries, and patented inventions. This underscores the need for thorough research and regulation of the interaction between contemporary AI applications and intellectual property rights.
The research highlights the conditions under which AI can utilise existing intellectual property and explores the extent to which AI can serve as the creator of such works. The paper examines AI both as an object of IP protection and as a creator of intellectual property.
The research will soon be published by Burgas Free University.
