Yana Lazarova in the judging panel of the Bulgarian National Rounds for Jessup 2015

Kambourov & Partners associate Yana Lazarova was invited to act as a judge in the Bulgarian national rounds for Jessup 2015. She was part of the judging panel in the wriitten and oral round. Another of the firm's associates - Plamen Yotov, was also among the judges in the oral round. The final round was held on 22 February 2015 at the Supreme Court of Cassation where Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” became the champion and the University of National and World Economy the runner-up. The judging panel in the final round featured Prof. David Turns (Defence Academy of the UK), Yonko Grozev (judge in the ECHR) and Verginia Micheva-Ruseva (Deputy Minister of Justice). The event was organized by International Moot Court Competitions Association (Sofia, Bulgaria) and sponsored by “America for Bulgaria” Foundation.

Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition (JESSUP) is the largest and most prestigious international law competition in the world. The competition is a simulation of a fictional court dispute before the International Court of Justice and is organized by the International Law Students Association (ILSA).

The international rounds of JESSUP are held yearly, usually in March, in Washington D.C., USA. Bulgaria participates in JESSUP since 1984. Since 2011, national rounds are held under the patronage of the eminent Bulgarian scientist in the field of public international law – Prof. Alexander Yankov.
